Con Dao Special Zone Connects to National Grid, Powering a Sustainable Future

On September 2, 2025, Vietnam Electricity (EVN), through Power Project Management Board No. 3, successfully energized the vital National Grid Power Supply Project for the Con Dao Special Zone. This monumental achievement arrived just in time to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).

The successful energization marks a new era for Con Dao, ensuring a safe, continuous, and stable electricity supply. This capability is crucial for meeting the demands of socio-economic development, national defense, and security, while significantly enhancing the local quality of life. By replacing localized diesel-fired generation, the project dramatically cuts power production costs and, importantly, curbs greenhouse gas emissions. This action strongly supports Vietnam’s national commitments to emission reduction and sustainable development.

With a substantial investment of VND 4,923 billion, the EVN-led project features a 110kV system stretching a total of 103.7km. The infrastructure includes a 77.7km segment of complex submarine cable connecting the mainland to the island, alongside overhead and underground sections. This successful deployment underscores the nation’s capacity to execute large-scale, technologically advanced energy projects, even in the challenging and rigorous marine environment.
We at ITS JSC are proud to confirm our contribution to this nationally significant undertaking, having provided and configured the submarine cable monitoring system for the entire project.
