ITS deploys advanced monitoring systems for submarine cable

A major step has been taken in the project to supply power from the National Grid to Côn Đảo District, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Province. This project spans Vĩnh Châu Town (Sóc Trăng Province), Côn Đảo District, and the vast sea area in between. For the HH01-DZCĐ package, ITS JSC successfully contributed to the project by delivering and commissioning multiple cutting-edge cable monitoring systems. As of October 18, 2025, these advanced systems are fully operational.

ITS JSC is proud to contribute our expertise to this vital infrastructure project, ensuring its long-term reliability and safety. The scope of cable supervision included: 77.7 km three-phase 110 kV submarine cable, from the transition point to the landfall point in Côn Đảo, and 8.5 km single-phase 110 kV underground land cable, connecting the Côn Đảo landfall point to the 110 kV busbar of the Côn Đảo GIS Substation.

The cable route is equipped with next-generation monitoring technology , utilizing fiber optics as sensors for Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS), and Distributed Strain Sensing (DSS). These systems monitor acoustics, temperature, and mechanical stress, enabling the detection of any abnormal changes along the line. Additionally, the cable features a Partial Discharge (PD) monitoring system. This technology detects high-frequency waves propagating along the cable during partial discharge activity, ensuring the early detection of insulation faults and enhancing overall system reliability.
